The Power Of Faith

When the widow of Zarephath was approached by Elijah and asked to prepare some food for him before she fed herself and her son during a famine, she could have refused. Instead she exercised her faith and was obedient. As a result, she and her son had provision of food for the duration of the famine. The power of her faith allowed her to be obedient. You see, it is not faith if you wait to see how things turn out — faith is believing in what is not visible, not available, or not existent. The power of the widow's faith is in the Bible to send the message that we must not be afraid to give of the little that we have while trusting God to make provision for us, making abundance from our scarce resources. Are you willing to share of the little you have to provide for someone else? God sees your faith and responds accordingly. If God says do it, then do it and be blessed.

1 Kings 17:15-16 — "She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah."
