Wait On The Lord
Isaiah wrote to a people who were exhausted and worn down by fear and an uncertain future. To them, it looked nothing like they had hoped for. Into that situation, God asked a few simple questions: hast thou not known, hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary? The people were tired. God wasn't. He promised them that the same strength that never runs dry was available to them, and to anyone willing to wait on Him — not waiting as in doing nothing, but waiting as in trusting in Him, leaning and looking to Him instead of to their own strength. Even the young and strong eventually stumble. But those who wait on the Lord are promised something different: renewed strength and endurance, and the ability to rise above circumstances that would otherwise wear them down. My brothers and sisters, if you are tired today — tired of waiting, tired of trying, tired of holding on — this promise still stands. God-given strength has never run out, and it was never reserved for people who have it all together. It is for the weary who are willing to wait on Him.
Isaiah 40:30-31 — "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
